Q39 is a BBQ restaurant on 39th Street in Kansas City that blends national-championship barbecue with wood-fire grill techniques. They have been open for one year and usually have a long line to get in unless you go out of the “normal” eating times. We were introduced to Q39 by John and Helen. They seem to know all the good eating places and we enjoy going out with them.
We usually order onion rings to have while we are waiting for our food. They are made in-house and are very good.
My favorite dish to order is the Judges Plate. You can pick three meats for your plate and two sides. The meats are spare ribs (2), sliced brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken and sausage. I like the ribs, brisket and chicken best. They also have slaw made with green apples which is unusual and great tasting. There beans are also wonderful.
