Hawaii – Paniolo Lounge at Travaasa Hotel Hana

This is where the road to Hana stopped for us. We drove through town and did not find anything open at 2:30 on this Sunday afternoon. We came upon the Travaasa Hotel. As we walked into the dining room. There was a perfect view of the bay and a gorgeous day with great outdoor seating. […]

A Road Trip

Along Maui’s rugged eastern coastline is the peaceful town of Hana, considered one of the last unspoiled Hawaiian frontiers. The legendary road to Hana is only 52 miles from Kahului. The road was so narrow that many times it was a one-lane road (even though it went 2 ways) with a mountain on one side […]
Sun and Clouds

A cruise was a great way to see the best of the main islands: Maui, Hilo Kona and Nawiliwili. The itinerary provided over nights in several of the ports, so there was plenty of time to get out and enjoy the islands without having to rush back to the ship. We arrived early, 11:30, so […]
Formal Night
This is our second night on the ship and it is what they call Formal Night. We left our cabins early to take advantage of the different photo stations set up in the public areas of the ship.
Farewell Party
On Sunday night, the first formal night, the Captain, Thore Thorolvsen from Norway, had a welcoming party. Champagne flowed freely for about an hour. This replaced the tradition Captain’s cocktail party. The Captain made a welcoming speech from the Royal Promenade. He appears to hatch from what looks like a giant egg (O.k. it’s a […]
